ShelfDrop is an offline-first audiobook app for importing and playing audiobook files you already own.
Summary
ShelfDrop does not require an account, does not operate a hosted audiobook library, and does not upload your audiobook files to a ShelfDrop server.
Data ShelfDrop Handles
ShelfDrop stores the following data locally on your device:
- Audiobook files you import.
- Cover images found in or imported with your audiobooks.
- Audiobook titles, authors, track information, duration, and file metadata needed for playback.
- Playback progress, playback speed, jump button settings, sleep timer preference, and import preferences.
- Temporary receive-mode upload files while an import is in progress.
This data is stored in the app's local container on your device. Deleting a book from ShelfDrop removes the copied audiobook files and local records for that book.
Local Network Receive Mode
When you start receive mode, ShelfDrop creates a temporary local web page on your device so a computer on the same Wi-Fi network can upload audiobook files directly to the app.
- Receive mode starts only after you choose to start it.
- Receive mode uses a temporary local address and receive code.
- Receive mode accepts uploads only while active.
- Receive mode does not expose your full device storage or full app documents directory.
- Receive mode stages files temporarily before importing them into your local library.
Receive mode uses your local network only. Audiobook files are transferred from your computer directly to your device.
Data Collection
ShelfDrop does not currently collect analytics, advertising identifiers, account data, contact data, precise location, or payment information.
ShelfDrop does not sell personal information.
If you contact support, the information you choose to share may be used to respond to your request. If you use GitHub Issues for support, the information you post there may be public.
Apple Services
If you install ShelfDrop through TestFlight or the App Store, Apple may process information related to downloads, purchases, crash reports, TestFlight feedback, and App Store operations under Apple's terms and privacy policies.
Backups
ShelfDrop stores imported audiobook files in the app's local container. iOS device backups may include app data depending on your device and iCloud backup settings.
Children
ShelfDrop is not designed to collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated as ShelfDrop changes. If ShelfDrop later adds accounts, cloud sync, paid services, analytics, crash reporting SDKs, or hosted metadata features, this policy will be updated before those features are released.
